dwm rework Simpson?
6 Attachment(s)
Sorry its has been some time that I have posted in the forum, however I read the forum every day to gain knowledge of lugers from the experienced collectors. One of my friends is having his house redone and ask to have some of his collectibles to be placed in my safe. He does not know lugers and thought the piece was a Japanese Nambu. The luger is a rework DWM commercial? serial # 2897 R suffix. Reworked by Simpson? for police issue? The Piece has a sear safety and frame cut for a magazine safety. I believe the barrel has been replaced. Simpson Proof Marks? The bluing is not consistant from reciever to barrel. Larger fonts than my mauser luger on side plate. The sideplate on this gun is marked on the top and underneath as in a commercial luger. The luger comes with a FXO mag plastic base and a aluminum base type II mag with small stick eagle 83 or 63. The luger also has a black leather holster marked A. Fisoher 1939 serial # 6822. Anomalies toggle pin oversize marked 005 and toggle link pin oversize 005. Grips do not match large font later mauser grips? NO proof marks on right side of frame. Crown N proof on left side of frame

What does the top of the chamber and toggle middle link show?

Yes, please post a pic of the toggle!!! I thought they were only fantasies...but an actual Simpson would be priceless!!! |
There were Simson but not Simpsons
Are there eagle 6's on it. If no, then it's not a Simson. I would say it is a new made dwm from around 1929 that was commercial bu went into police service, if it has a Simson accepted barrel then that is just a part of there's. |
I will post more pics of the piece today
Many thanks |

An incredibly rare find, Rich. The only Luger made at Springfield Armory!
