MAUSER Logo..?
Hey Guys....got a question regarding the MAUSER Logo on top of the Luger Pistols.......Im familiar with the BYF logo.....but did Mauser mark some of the Lugers with the name spelled out on the top.?...and if so....what years are we looking at.?.....Ive had a 1941 BYF offered to me....but just got to thinking about the full logo.....trying to dredge up in my memory if i saw it on a Luger or it was just on a 98K Rifle.....I appreciate some opinions....Best Always....Hans Fischer

Welcome aboard, Hans!
Yes, the Mauser Logo appeared on commercial Lugers and some police Lugers prior to WW2. They were also produced in the 1970s by Mauser with the logo on the toggle. Collectors refer to these guns as "Mauser Banner" pistols. |
Hans,
"byf" was a concealment code assigned by the German government to Mauser during WW-II. It is similar to earlier concealment codes "42" and "S/42" in that it was supposed to make it more difficult for the allies to determine the manufacturer of weapons. Marc |
