AR-15's retro and such!
Hello to all! Just a short note to let the members know that I also assemble AR's as part of GT Specialties menu... I can usually get parts cheaper then most and have a long track record in this venue as well... If you need any help with a build.. my prices are quite low, and the care and attention i give is equal to any of my luger projects... Anyway, I'm out there if needed... best to all, til...lat'r...GT...

I am looking a cheap and complete upper for a lower I put together.

It would be fun to do a C96 with an AR15 lower look. :)

I paid $600 for my S&W Sport II AR15 (seems more like an M4). I consider that pretty inexpensive.

I want one chambered in 7mm Nambu! :D

I'd like a retro AR from the Nodak Spud blanks, but I don't have a mill to do it myself, and the local gunsmith is backlogged like you wouldn't believe. I just wish Fulton Armory wasn't the only game in selling complete retro AR's, I mean considering how many dozen companies build them you'd think more would offer retro models.

I'm sure Gerry could whip up something like these. ;) |
Retro AR's
Hi to all, as Don noted, AR stuff is cheaper then it's ever been right now! I've never been able to buy quality lowers for under $50.00 even 40 years ago.. On the other hand, original retro stuff is way way up!!! Rich has some nice early retro builds shown but, I think Nodak has been backordered for years on the stuff... Alas, too many drum to fix, and no retro AR parts to be had.... :) ... Sorry guys, the post lies! I'm not in that game anymore! :( But as Don said, PSA has some insane deals right now.. I can't even safely open one of their sales email for fear I will buy a bunch of stuff. Then I ask myself, how many Mag-Pul 30 round mags do I really need? The answer is none!....:burnout: Back to the luger bench! best to all, til....lat'r....GT...

One of those things that can happen. When I rotated back from Okinawa, it turned out I had a few extra items in my seabag. I forgot about them until my father passed last year and I found these things I had given him. One is my rifle cleaning kit with my receipt still stuffed in it and a 30 round mag with (3) 5.56 coded LC 72. I don't even know how I could have possibly gotten off the range with those?

Hi Rich....
I do enjoy building them, but I've not been able to corner any of the early stuff since my last go around a few years back... I was in love with the 604 models and never was a big fan of the forward assist... I have one 604 build for my daughter and had a CAR-15 for my son, gave that one to a friend of mine.. I really like the XM607 (is it the same as XM-177?) you show above Rich... neat, neat guns... Maybe some later on in the future, but mostly M4's and just for my personal use... I need the flat top and optics now as well... best to all, til...lat'r...GT:cheers:

retro? just bought the lighter one from the local pawn shop for 625 bucks out the door. it's nodak a1 reciever even had the cleaning kit in the buttstock. Looks like most of the rest of the parts is from a colt parts kit.
the shiny black one, is a century C15 sporter. it's a Olympic lower and mostly Colt surplus parts. traded a 2 dollar yard sale samurai sword and 100 bucks for it. The sword was real, made between 1640-1670 but needed restoration. jim |
