uhuh, gimme a break ;)

oh, come on, listen to this description;

Quote:

Simpson Sneak 1927 Luger. Here is a rare pre WW2 Simpson & Co., Suhl Germany, serial number 7490 in 9mm Police type. Sometimes referred to as a sneak Luger. It was made in 1927 for the German police force in the Wiemar Republic.
There is so much wrong in that description..... It is dated 1920, so where does the 1927 come from?

Simson (don't know what a Simpson is?) didn't make any of the sneaks....

And the sneaks were made later than 1920, later than 1927 :)

The description that it is the german police force is a good quote ;)

At this moment the seller, "jackcounty", has 387 items listed and not one bid. It is a shame that Gunbroker.com allows them to clutter up their site.

The seller is Jackson Armory, in Dallas ..I have dealt with them and bought some stuff. Got a GREAT buy on an AEG snail drum not too long ago cause they had no idea what they had.
I think they have a ton of stuff and are not always that knowledgeable about it all which doesn't surprise me. Anyone with that much inventory can't know it all.
They had a bunch of fake snail drums for sale..on this Forum they found out they were fake and pulled them.
Not bad folks from what I can tell...take a look at what they have, you might find a bargain like I did!

Maybe its a "sneak" because the DWM has been either scrubbed off the toggle or a replacement blank link has been used??
:)

The left grip is also a replacement since it shows no cut out for the magazine safety.

sheepherder 05-29-2012 01:06 PM

If it's a "Simpson" :D , why does the tag say "Rare Mauser Mfg Sneak Luger WaA66"???

He does admit the mag doesn't match...

I like the blank toggle... ;)

(I wonder if the people at Simpson Collector Firearms know that Jackson Armory is selling their Lugers???) :roflmao:

I suspect that it is a 29 DWM or a late DWM Alphabet Commercial that somehow got a 1920 property stamp applied to it. Note the halo around the stamp. I have run across some cases where the 1920 stamp was used much later in the 20s but I can't recall a case with a Landjägerei pistol.

I have asked the seller for the letter suffix to try to help figure this out but have not yet received a reply.

I have given up commenting on ridiculous statements by sellers regarding police weapons. There are too many of them! :surr:

Why, That there is a shoor-fine Purty Pistola!! Them Simpsons knew how to make good-uns!

Alphabet Commercial made for the Riff contract (blank toggle, never delivered). WaA66 army acceptance, no commercial proof, proper for police guns of this type. Rebarrelled; rebarrel proofing too indistinct in these photos to identify. Serial# suffix will be s, t, or u (very slight possibility of r). Several reported in this range with 1920 property mark, one reported also marked to Landjägerei.

Seller confirms "u" suffix.

Don M 06-06-2012 01:40 PM

For anyone recording data (Dwight?), note that seller has corrected the serial number of this gun to 2761u.
