Repro eBay holster?

Another edition of "Repro or Real"...

I am always suspicious when a seller doesn't use "Luger" or "holster" in the title of a listing for a Luger holster.

Is this a repro? Are The clues the Straight up belt loops, and the condition?

No offense intended to the seller if it is real...

That holster looks real. WW1 style as it doest have the stiffener piece.
My reproduction luger holster looks different

World War I holsters did not have PO8 on them. This did not appear until the P38 came out and the model type was on there to tell them apart. Curt

A complete reproduction that somebody has tried to antique. Not only do the belt loops lack the proper cant, but the tool pouch has the classic, squared off edges that characterize most repros.

Hmmm, ever seen a reproduction of a WW1 style luger holster. Live and learn!

Definately a repro. The PO8 tells us that. Not even a very good repro. Bill

Hi All:

The "fake" German doesn't help either.

Fake Holster

I agree that this holster is a fake but I have one question. It was mention that the tool holder has square corners. I don't understand this as every holster I have looked at has square corners on the tool holder. Thanks, Bill

Most vintage tool pouches exhibit some rounding of the corners over time and tend to be flattened against the holster dust cover. When I see crisp, square and usually upturned tool pouch corners it is a first give-away that not all is right with the holster. By no means a deal breaker, simply a first warning tha the balance of the holster requires further examination.

Look at the buckle & roller..Roller is too short, buckle is too square

The right belt loop is lower than the left!

Top lid hinge is not sewn over into the magazine pouch

Mag pouch is too high and squared off

stitching at the bottom of the left loop to the right for the pull-up is spaced away from the bottom of the loop. Should be an extension of the loop

The interior tool pouch is too fat at the bottom. Out or proportion.

This holster and many other repro's just SCREAM reproduction if you look them over as Doug and Bill have indicated...

Geez Jerry, I was hoping you would be a bit more specific as to why this piece of crap is a piece of crap. Guess I will have to figure it out for myself.

Sold for $91. A holster available at many reenactor's sites for $25.

$25 for the holster and $66 for dirtying it. Not a bad deal :D
