DWM 1920 information please
I really hope this is in the right section so I dont upset anyone. I am not sure if I should jump on this deal or not because of my lack of knowledge on lugers. Someone is selling a 1920 DWM luger with all matching serial numbers of 3883. He hasn't posted very clear pictures of the Luger yet and I am requesting more but here is the best one. It has a very good price but I am not sure if a pistol like this is commercial or military,(will the commercial models hold its value? Also it is chambered in 7.65 para. I dont see any markings on it at all.

Welcome to the forum!
The pistol is a commercial, not military gun and it has certainly been buffed and reblued, from what the photo seems to reveal. What, exactly, is "a very good price"? This will allow members to give you further advice. |
he wants 750 and that comes with some ammo and dies to reload. does that help at all on if its a decent idea or not ?

Hi Chris,
You should be able to get a .30 Luger commercial pistol (called 1923 Alphabet Commercial) in good original finish for that price. I bought a nice one for $675 a couple of years ago. Refinished, and in .30 Luger, I think that the price is high. It's not collectable and would be considered a shooter Luger. Perhaps $450 - $500 if in proper mechanical and shooting condition with original magazine. Marc |
Ok thanks so much. I appreciate your help. Sorry about posting in the wrong forum.

I agree with all the above. The straw parts have also, been blued. You can do better than this. If you plan on shooting your luger I would avoid 30 cal. It is a very good caliber but ammo is expensive compared to 9mm. Also a lot less market for these 20's lugers. If you can find one that hasn't been messed with and you don't mind the extra ammo price they are a nice commercial luger. Good hunting. Bill
