Some show and tell Bavarian 8th infantry regement machinegun company weapon 81. One of my favorite units. been there done that pistol. This unit fought very hard from start to finish. John

1914-15 with 4th Bavarian division located on .... Lorraine, Somme, Flanders, Artois Loose.
1916 sent to rest with the 33 Bav reserve division at Verdun.........nice place to be 1917 with the 14 Bav Div. back on the Somme Artois eastern front Riga.... Galicia... then back west....... 1918 with the16 Bav. Div. Picardy...Ypres... Somme By 1918 they were rated second class, but that was due to such heavy loss throught the war.. |

Hi John, Beautiful gun and, as you say, one with a great history. Like all early guns that went to Bavarian units, it hasn't been retrofitted with a hold-open or 50m. sight blade. That early magazine is a real prize, too. Regards, Norm

Very nice gun! I have a 1911 DWM that served with the same regiment, also with the original magazine.
