Holster ID and grip question
I just bought my first Luger, a 1908 Commercial and it came with a holster. It is black and marked "1941 jvf P.08". I was wondering if someone could tell me what the holster is and about what it is worth. I know its not the right one for the gun but it came with the deal. Also, how do you tell a fake holster. This one looks original by wear but the belt loops seem to be replaced. Lastly, does cleaning the grips using the process listed change the value of the gun in any way? I just wanted to make sure I wasnt going to devalue the gun. Thanks for your help. Ron Brock

Re: Holster ID and grip question
1. Holster - The manufacture is Wilhelm Brand Treibriemenfabrik Heidelberg. The holster sounds original but with the loops replaced its probably not worth that much

Re: Holster ID and grip question
Recommend you contact Mr. Clark here reference grips. He took a set on a 1918 Erfurt of mine that someone had sanded completely smooth amd recheckered them. They improved the appearance of the gun 90%. He charged me $40.00 but then I'm in Alabama and he is a little pro south. You can find him on the index listed "grips" under Hugh. Congratulations on your buy. I'm new to Lugers also and if you read this forum regularly the available information is very helpful.
