New guy on the block
I'm looking for my first Parabellum, hopefully a 9mm shooter? We have a gun show this weekend in Richmond,Va. and was wondering what would be a decent price for a shooter?
I'll let ya'll know if I strike gold..! Thanks for your help, Lukedog (aka) Wes |
Wes,
The range for a shooter can be from $400 to $1k, or more. Condition would dictate where in this range a particular one would fall. You may do better hanging with the forum and checking the WTS section for a nice shooter another collector is passing along. Gun shows are a crapshoot--people with insufficient experience/knowledge selling usually overpriced guns. But sometimes you can strike gold... Most would advise lots of research about Lugers before getting one, so as not to be burned. I've found there is always something to learn about assessing the condition/variation of Lugers. I will echo this because the more you know, the better you may do. If you don't mind paying full retail for a pistol, check out Simpson Ltd. which is a reliable source for Lugers that has a reputation for standing behind their offerings. David Parker |
Welcome to the forum Wes.
+1 on the WTS section here. But you have to check frequently cause they don't last long. |
Thanks guys! I need to do my homework....

If you buy a pistol with the intention of shooting it..Make sure it shoots...You don't want to get stuck with a problem.

Lukedog,
I would suggest you wait,save your money,for a 95% luger.You can probably get one for $1200 to $1500. Bob |
Welcome, Wes! As others have said, keep an eye out on the WTS section (we've had quite a few reasonably priced ones pass through) and you've already posted a WTB. Good luck! There are other options if you can't wait (reputable dealers like RGuns, Simpson, and Checkpoint Charlies amongst others) but your patience will be rewarded!
Plus, you might get lucky and see something nice at the gun show (though I've never been so lucky at the gun shows near me). |
Wow....Thanks for the support guys.!I really appreciate it .

I just returned from the Richmond gun show Wes mentioned. Saw about 6 or 8 Lugers. Most were poor condition and overpriced. A few looked nice but were also probably overpriced.
I'm a newbie on Lugers, but they seem to be like most other things you see at gun shows now. As David says, better do your homework before you buy anything. |
Thanks Biker
Yeah I was going over about noon time....I think i'll just window shop....lol....
