BYF 42 all match except trigger value?
Gentlemen: I have a BYF 42 with all matching numbers in great condition. However, the trigger does not match. How much would this detract in collector value?
|
great condition..much depends on your statement here. If it is a 98% collector grade pistol and worth $3000 a mismatched trigger would be all important. A real deal killer to someone wanting an all matching example.
if by great condition you mean an 85% pistol.. a marginal example but very pretty..most people would be glad to get hold of it and not be too concerned with a mis matched trigger on a $900-1200 pistol. It all depends on condition and who might be buying it. Keep in mind most people don't like to see ANY mismached parts on a Luger but some are more acceptable than others.. I hate a mismatched sideplate most of all. One last thing..does the trigger cause it to malfunction? Any part that affects fireing can be bad news. |
Thank you
Thank you sir. The trigger works fine. The blueing seems too nice to not having been reblued in the past and it does not have matching mags. I wanted a shooter anyways.

Richard, Welcome to the Forum by the way..Yes..nice to have a shooter! Be careful though..you don't want to break any more numbered parts on the pistol.

Welcome Richard,
It would be interesting to see photos of your pistol and all its markings. Does you pistol have a sear safety? I ask since you mention two matching mags. It would not be impossible to find a matching numbered trigger for your pistol if you put it out there. |
and it does not have matching mags.?????
|
No matching mags
That is correct Sir; no matching mags.
|
oops, confused with other post I was reading...
|
I agree with Doug though..It would not be impossible to find a matching numbered trigger for your pistol if you put it out there.
