questions

I was left a 1915 German Luger by a close family friend. It is in good original condition. All the serial numbers match and it has 4 crest marks. I don't know anything about Lugers, I am a rifle man myself and am an active hunter. I am interested in selling it as I know they are collected and want it to go to someone who can appreciate it. I have been checking into what all the numbers mean for a sense of value but would appreciate any help available. My e-mail is tammy_simonds@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance for any replies. Ken

Welcome Ken,

Your pistol is an assemblage of at least two different guns. This would relegate it to a shooter classification.

Good photos will tell us much more.

What does shooter classification mean please?

That means that the gun has little or no interest to collectors. A "collector" Luger will always be worth more than a "shooter". A "collector" Luger is one with all correct, numbers matching parts as close in configuration to when it left the factory as possible. A "Shooter" means that there is little danger of devaluing the gun's monetary worth by shooting it, since a broken, numbered part can simply be replaced without the gun losing its "all matching" designation, since it is already mismatched.

I hope this is clear.

okay I have found out some things about the pistol and would like to sell it. How do i go about this? Am not very computer savvy and dont know how to click into right place. The price I'm asking is $800 or best offer. Any advice?

Place a good description and a few photographs in the "For Sale' section of the site and then wait for interested buyers.

I am in the market for a shooter grade luger. Let me know when you get some pictures available. Thanks!
