1937 S/42 Luger
I have a question concerning the markings on the right side of a 1937 s/42 luger. There is only one eagle/63 marking on that side (no weimar stamps)and no weimar stamp on the barrel.I think this is very unusual and is there an explanation?
Thanks |
gelotti,
Photos would help a great deal! Bob |

Hi Bob,
I have no pics of the luger but I can explain it on the picture I have added. The markings with the yellow cross are not on the luger, only the one (E/63) on the left of the picture. Hope this helps. |
Is your Luger in it's original finish? If refinished, the marks could have been buffed off.
Are there commercial proof marks on it anywhere else? It could also have been put together from diverted or rejected parts. Marc |
I doubt on that finish. The luger is very shiny (high polish) but all the edges are still sharp and all the serial numbers the E/63 are still deep stamped.
Is there a possibility they have only marked the right side of the frame once and without the weimar stamps? |
