I found this rather nice walther PP 7.65mm today. overall good plus condition, numbers match. about 60 percent finish , eagle over n stamp, making it a world war two issue, with two mags. sn/259396P . looks to me like a good one

I think so, will negotiate the final price today. not sure of the actual year of manufacture, but the stamps put it 1940 or later. Oh an by the way, i watched the dvd " Never so few" with frank sinatra and steve Mc Queen, which was his break out movie role. the japanese soldiers carring lugers/lol. steve McQueens custom luger holster and trade mark cut off sweat shirt and thompson with no buttstock and mags taped together. It was so fun to watch, i saw so many firearms mistakes. thanks to your avitar i found a great movie, i had over looked. Did you know the part of Mc Queen was to be played by Sammy Davis jr, but frank Sinatra was mad at him ,and gave to part Mc Queen which led to his movie breakout and stardom. Ole Frank in the goatee at the start/lol. Gotta say it is a fun movie. thanks again , Padre

I never saw the movie but the Japanese did capture Dutch Lugers during WW2.

Interesting, the movie is just alot of fun to watch, actauly based somewhat on a real oss group fighting in burma. Check it out i think you will find it a great movie, i sure did.

Yes i remember that one, i will have to find it and watch it again. this afternoon i went to see "An act of valor" not to take anything away from the jobs the navy seals do, and believe me i am far from a movie critic. This is just my oppinon. skip it and wait for it on dvd, i am sure these men are fine soldiers, they are not actors. Other than the combat and action scenes it really drags. I looked around and during the movie i wasn't the only one yawning. Other than the action it just seems to drag on. I should have known this much hype and it usualy is a let down. It's a long way from blackhawk down, but was nice to see thousands of rounds being fired with out one jam, ahh hollywood. Again, it has it's moments, but over all not a great movie, the navy seals in it do a good job during the action, the rest is a let down, maybe there is a be a better version on dvd.

Padre, congratulations for you Walther PP. You are gathering a nice collection of WWII German guns and has a nice eye to get collectable items. Douglas. |
Thanks, but the deal went south, so to speak. It happens. The owner decided to keep it , which is ok, if and when it may come up for sale again, he will let me know.
|
It happens all the time.
But he will remember you next time. For your knowledge, anyway: the serial number puts its manufacturing date as 1942. Douglas |
