Need info on DWM please
 

To say I'm new to Luger is an understatement. I just help the first one yesterday and have a chance to buy but neither seller nor I know a darn thing. I joined here and I've been doing some research but my god is there A LOT to absorb here. Im going to post some pics and hope for some/any info from you guys. The pistol looks beautiful for 1915. All parts stamped and match. No stamps or marking on front or rear straps.

You have a very nice DWM 1915 Luger with original finish. Does the magazine have a matching number?

Other than this, what do you wish to know about your pistol?

Also, you'll want to check internal parts to see if they are numbered properly. You'll find dis-assembly instructions on this site.

Thank you for the welcome..... I guess I was wondering is it a Military model, what could be an approximate value based on these pics (ballpark), what are the markings on it or the meaning of them, collector, collectable, shooter, ??? I can't see any numbers on magazine and it looks like the wood on bettom of mag did break but was glued back on.... It took a while to open the action. Seemed gummed up but it eventually opened and locked back but does not every time. When closed, if you pull trigger, it does not seem like firing pin releases. The trigger moves back but nothing happens...

A German military 9mm gun, if matching except mag. worth (ballpark) around $1000, with matching mag. add a couple to four hundred. If internals are mismatched deduct a couple hundred. Overall from what we are seeing it looks nice. Any markings on the grip straps? A couple of pictures showing the entire gun (and accessories) might tell us something too.

Sounds like it may be a bit gummed up inside. Search this site and YouTube for disassembly instructions and take a toothbrush and some powder solvent to the parts. It should work a lot better then.

2 more of an unknown marking

Thanks for the help here. I really appreciate it. There are no markings on front or back strap. I'm going to lube the internals a bit with some CLP and see if she loosens a bit. Stocks are not chipped at all. I'm guessing that the take-down lever on left side ahead of trigger housing is gummed as well because there is no play/movement at all.....

I stand corrected.... It looks like there is a number stamped into wood on very bottom of magazine but there are marks/dings on bottom that obscure the number. Would it be 2 numbers like all othere parts?

All 4 numbers plus the suffix letter on the magazine.

Do NOT try and force the take-down lever! It will move freely if you push the muzzle against something like a wood tabletop or other object that will not marr the finish.

If I'm sure the gun is empty, I simply push the muzzle back with the palm of one hand while lowering the take-down lever with the other.

Anyone have info on any of these proof marks? Is there a chart I can look at?

The eagle on top of the barrel should be the same one as the forward eagle on the right receiver and was indicates proof firing and military acceptance. TH

Look at the left side of your screen. You'll see several links, click on "Technical Information". There you will find another link for a proof table chart ("Markings"). Plenty of info there.

And don't dry fire it. Hold the toggle assembly as you close it, about 3/8 inch before fully closed you may feel a slight catch. At that point squeeze the trigger and complete the closing. Thus the FP is not back and spring loaded.
