sideplate replacement?

On my first luger everything but the sideplate and take down lever is stamped 65. The side plate and lever is stamped 66. I noticed there's a guy in the classifieds trading in sideplates for the old one plus 75 dollars. For a shooter type gun (its been reblued) is it worth the money to swap out the side plate and try to find a correct lever, just to say its numbers matching? Its a 1917 DWM standard pistol. thanks. jim

Not really. You can try to find the parts, just because it pleases you to have an all matching pistol, but it will not make a difference to a potential buyer and you will have more money into the pistol than you may get out of it.

fully agree with you on that

You could also have trigger / sear fitting problems with replacing that part. These pistols were hand fitted in that area...
