mag id?
4 Attachment(s)
alanint ID'd the woodbottom mag for me in a thread in the general forum as a DWM magazine from the description I gave him without pictures. Question I had is the second aluminum bottom magazine a aftermarket magazine? there is know marking on it, sides or bottom. The wood bottom mag seems to not sit up in the magwell all the way, it seems loose. The aluminum bottom one works well in the DWM but seems tight going into the erfurt so I dont want to force it. I got a mec gar with my DWM and it fits great and tight in the erfurt, so I think the woodbottom mag is just going to sit in the safe. thanks. jim

Jim,
The aluminum bottom mag looks like a Mauser mag to me. Commercials and some contract issued mags were not marked. |
Hi,
Is there a small dent in the aluminum base magazine, near the front edge in the first photo? That could be causing interference in the frame channel. Gerald Tomak "G.T." has the fixtures and the skill to fix that if you need to. Look carefully all over the aluminum base magazine for a very small "42" or "S/42". It's hard to tell due to lack of focus in your last picture, but it doesn't look like a serial has been scrubbed from it's base. It could be an armorer's replacement magazine. Marc |
defintely a small dent. I just looked. I looked over the mag and there is no other markings on it. jim

I got to looking in the classifieds and Zim has a erfurt magazine for sale. I compared his to my wood base mag and the dimples actually look like the letter D laying down. Can someone tell me what the difference is between a DWM and a erfurt magazine? The number on the base of mine is 6842 n. thanks. jim

Hard to tell....
By the pictures, I think the wood bottom mag you have is an Erfurt?? You can sometimes, but not always, tell by the knob ends on the wood bottoms.. DWM has a much greater radius, (rounded edge) on the knobs..Erfurt, is more square.. and the tube looks to be Erfurt as well, retangular follower stop crimps... better pictures would help some..best to all, til...lat'r...GT

Would anyone have pics side by side? thanks. jim

looks like a DWM magazine then. Thanks for the picture to compare. Hopefully it'll help others out too. I'll keep the mag with my DWM luger. jim
