Typical ones. Still missing some important early ones. Many more years to go.....

Alvin, VERY nice! Thanks for showing off your collection!

alvin 02-12-2012 05:44 PM

Jerry, it's a summary of two terms of C&R license. I did not waste that $60 dollars fee -:)

Beautiful collection, Alvin. Having a few holes to fill gives you something to aim for. Thanks for showing! Best regards, Norm

There are many broomhandle variations. I probably missed 50 of them. Schnellfeuer is obviously out of picture due to the regulation. 1930 with removable magazine, just missed one, that's OK. 20-Shot Conehammer, too rare and too expensive for me, that's OK. Carbine, it's not really a pistol, I can ignore it. Small ring with Mauser banner chamber top,,,,, who cares this difference (at least I don't). The list goes on and on....

But I care a few. 10-shot Fix sight conehammer. One with matching stock has been on sale for years but it's a refurbished one. An original one without stock was sold on GB, but I was late. Another original one was sold on GMA, but it has an deep scratch on magazine floor. I'll wait on this one.

Prewar Large Ring Bolo, I care this one. If it's also 6-shot, it will be perfect. It won't be cheap, but I will save my dollars and try. Hopefully, it won't appear until I am ready.

Postie, how do you know I have two Astras? I have never posted the other Astra's picture anywhere. I did have two Astra 900 in the past. Another Astra was a small ring. It's original but the bore was poor. I sold it two years ago.

The one with two screws was indeed nick named "two-screw Zehnlader" in 1920s by Chinese. It's a Spanish copy made by Beistegui Brothers. [Astra 900 was nicknamed as "seven-pin Zehnlader"]

Wow! Just lovely, and that 6-shot conehammer makes me weak in the knees.

Hello,

Just perfect broomhandels .... all of them in very
good condition.

But it seems to be very hard to get them all .

best regards

Otto

Alvin,

That's a very nice collection.
You're a man of nice taste and good eye to spot your pieces.
Congratulations!

alvin 02-15-2012 06:14 PM

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I will try to find a few more. Kid is going to college, I must put him in priority for a few years now.

I did shoot a few "collector broomhandles" though (none of the above ones except that pictured 1920 Red 9. These are too nice for me to shoot), including two minty 1930s, one 1912, one 1922 (bolo), and one Red 9. All five of them worked great, reliable and accurate, I have never experienced any problems (1930s had primer piercing issue in near new condition, not performance affecting though). Fortunately, nothing was broken during this risky process.

I really like them!
Congratulations

My favorite is in the first pic, second gun. I don't know Broomhandles much, but I've always liked the smaller mag one.

On a "SciFi" note, Han Solo would be proud

Very, very nice collection.

College is overrated. I attended two; got degrees in Mechanical Engineering; worked as entry-level Engineer for two years; hated it. (Think drinking a $1.04 bottle of Boone's Farm Apple on the way home, every day)...They wouldn't let me do anything!!! :crying:

Now I have day job that pays bills and do mechanical stuff in quality time. Also devote time to Rescue dogs; Weimaraners & Dobermans. Who are presently curled up on couch...

Lord! You know they charged a lot, and you attended two! :crying: I know it's overcharged. But I have no choice. I cannot fight a system.
