1913 DWM Luger?
 

Hi, I'm new here and looking for some information on my Luger. DWM on toggle, 1913 above chamber, four proof? marks on right side of chamber 3 look like letters with crowns and the 4th looks like an Eagle with 3 small circles above it's head, bottom of barre:l BO (with 2 dots above) .26, serial number (64xx) with what looks like a cursive letter b below, front of reciever: serial# with the same cursive b. All parts have the same serial# or the last 2 digits including magazine (wooden bottom of mag). Any info would help. thanks, Z

Sounds like an all matching 1913 DWM Luger.

Hi Jerry, Your gun sounds like a pretty typical 1913 DWM Luger except for the Bö.26 marking. Some Lugers, perhaps for test purposes were marked with a Böhler hardness testing number. While not rare, they are uncommon. As Marc said, with pictures we could tell you more. Regards, Norm

thanks for the quick replies, I'll take some photos in the daylight so the flash doesn't wash out the photo. I'd like to know as much as possible about it. It has been in my family since WW1 when my grandfather brought it home. I got it from my dad 30 years ago, fired it a few times since, keep it clean, oiled and in a safe, haven't thought about it much until recently. I figured I'd do a little research on it's history and value. Z

Your 1913 is a little out of the ordinary. It is a very late 1913 production right at the very start of when the stock lug was added to the Army Lugers. Early 1913 and prior years production did not have a stock lug. Not very many 1913s with a stock lug turn up so yours is a bit more rare. Also it appears in very nice condition. With its matching magazine I would think it falls into the $2500 range.

Is there a RC stamp on the trigger guard?

Yes, there is a small RC stamp on the trigger guard, I didn't notice it before or I would have photographed it.

The magazine also has the # 38 stamped on the wooden bottom indicating it came with the pistol originally.

Here is a photo of the holster I have for this pistol. It dide not come with the pistol but fits nicely. Any ideas? There are NO markings anywhere on it. Belt loops on the back indicate it should be worn on the left side butt forward. Attachment 24298

On Erfurts, Crown over "RC" was a "revision commission" stamp used when a part had to go back through rework and was then approved. I'm not sure it was the same on the DWMs...

Tthanks for the info on the holster, I bought it years ago at a surplus store because I wanted a holster for my Luger and that one seemed to fit the bill. the Luger fits nicely in it but I always wondered what it was for since the flap does not close with the mag in the pouch.

Crown RC means Revisions Commission. This mark is often seen on the Erfurt Lugers but is very rare on DWM. I have seen the RC only on some 1913 DWM with b suffix.
May I see a picture of the RC mark please?
