Luger finger prints
 

I want to make a point. Below is the rear toggle print individual and unique to each luger and call tell you at least part of the story. Here is the rear of the 1900 Test Luger #6786. A 1908 Navy #2505b and the 1917 Artiillery. It shows the artillery saw most action. The Navy and minimal Test Luger #6786. The least hands down and last was the 1937 Krieghoff evidencing no wear at all. It hasn't been reblued. Although, If there is minimal wear on a 80 year old luger, drop it and run!!

Now you have me wondering... I've noticed this aspect of my Lugers, too. It is definitely a sign of usage. But what I wonder is if this pattern can show lots of use of the gun by a large, deep spot from being hammered by the rear toggle, but could also look this way if the gun had been fired with ammo that was on the heavy side--bullets, grains of charge, kind of powder, etc., making a mark that, through limited actual 'use', could ,make the gun look as though it has had a lot of use. The inner 'ears' in the back of the receiver, and an area which could be contacted by the firing pin retainer's head when overpowered or heavy rounds have been fired, are also a couple other places to check for wear. (A tip of the hat to Gerard Henrotin, who pointed this out in his great little e-book, Luger Function.)

Brilliant It wasn't until I purchasee my 1917 Artillery from George Anderson and that I noticed His luger showed the most wear and they were are as unique as a fingerprint. Its a no brainer. At a gunshow it the greatest tool available. Does it correspond with the description the seller makes? If is perfect or near perfect? It should sign out a caveat. Its reblued or a gem. Just a camafloged turtle or my idiot ducks. Your invited down!

Debbies idiot duck returned north like the Canadians in their Buicks.. I took some cvloseups of my 1920 9mm luger carbine.I took the shot although show minimul wear its markaly different from other luger I own lugers at the time!! I've never shot any of my guns!

cireclaw, is it normal for carbine to have double rear sight like one in your photo?

Have You ever seen another 1920 9MM with hidden serial number with non military? I havent since I bought it 9 years ago!! I took some closeup for your review!!
