1921 DWM Mismatch

I thought I would repost this since I don't know if it was ever put up here when I first joined:

I have a mismatched DWM dated 1921 with the unit marking: 16./J.R.21.36

I think, when I first put it up, several very helpful forum colleagues suggested: 16th Company, 21st Infantry Regiment, Gun 36 (Weimar Republic). I'm hoping to find a bit more information about this regiment or pointers on where to look (Google has not been the most helpful).

I hate to reply to my own post but I recently took some photos of this Luger (my first and only firearm for 10 years until recently) and thought I'd update the post if anyone is interested. I always thought it was a reblue back when I bought it in 2002.

Still, a pretty enough gun. My apologies for the photos, I didn't really have much chance to find ideal conditions. That is the magazine which came with the pistol but I'm sure it's not the original. It was my favourite and most reliable magazine but I've long since retired it to keep it from being damaged.

I agree with youthat it has been reblued, but nicely, not over buffed. Nice looking pistol with a not so common year of manufacture. thanks for the pics, John

Hard to tell if it was heavily buffed or just 'dipped', but does look reblued.

When I look at a blue job, I concentrate on the edges as shown in pics below. If they are sharp and not rounded, I view it as an A+ job; IOW, a 'dip'; not a buffed to hell & gone job... :D

Unlike others here, a 'dip' reblue does not diminish the value to me...Buffing the snot out of it does... ;)
