1940 byf marked luger

I'm hoping someone can help me identify this weapon.

I was using Mr. Aarron Davis's book "Standard Catalog of Luger" to try and determine just what version of the P08 Luger my late father had acquired in the early 50's. All the serial numbers match( 2 and 4 digits) and are in the correct location. The backstrap has a N 4163 stamped on it, and the magazine is stamped N 4169x. The chamber has 1940 stamped on it . The receiver Military Test Fire proof mark, and the receiver Acceptance Mark are exactly the same as shown in the look up index # 175 for a Mauser 42 Code, Kriegsmarine. The only difference is in the Toggle Marking. Although the toggle has the correct two digit serial number (22) as the rest of the parts stamped with these two digit numbers (i.e.- extractor, side plate, etc.), it is stamped " byf " . The serial number stamped on the front of the frame is 1022 with a cursive letter that looks like a funny "b", this same "b" is stamped on the bottom of the magazine.
Have you ever heard of such a P 08 variant? Thanks for any information you may have on this matter.

Jeffery,
I also have a 1940 byf and posted questions about it when I first got it. Here is the discussion-

Sounds like yours also has Navy markings.
