Welcome to the forum!
You have a mismatched Simson which once saw police service. Still an interesting piece and more photos would be welcome! |
Doug, what did you see that was mis-matched?
Bob, your pistol is in need of something to slow down the rusting. Something like RemOil from Walmart... Don't go aggressively trying to remove the rust. Just get some preserving oil onto it. Don't do anything to change it other than take steps to preserve it in it's current state. These are rather rare pistols. Only just 12,000 were made. Your serial number is early in the 11,000 block of pistols. An all matching Simson & Co. Luger is valuable even in this finish state. Your pistol was manufactured as a police pistol, and proofed as such. These are a rare subset of Simson pistols. Your pistol was one of 1,268 estimated to have been made in 1933, and was made toward the end of the year. Details are in Ed Tinker's book on Simson Lugers. Do you have matching magazines as well? Please do post more pictures. Take them using indirect light (shaded outdoors) rather than flash. Use a tripod. You should find that just about every part is marked with the E/6 inspection marking. You'll find posting the pictures right here on this site easy. Just add them as attachments to your post. We find that many posted on other sites disappear over time. Please consider posting them right here! Thanks again for sharing... Marc |
Hi Marc,
The photobucket album only has a few photos, but enough to show a "30" marked rear toggle link and a "90" marked middle link. Unless the eyes are REALLY going...... NEVER MIND! A closer look shows the rear toggle is also a "90", not a "30", so it IS matching as far as the photos show. Sorry for the confusion!! |
Is it marked on the front grip strap?
