Is 6227 a bannerman number?

And to the postings I deleted, its best if folks don't cause trouble for the hell of it...

6227 is not a Bannerman number. It is part of that 62XX range with only 6287 being in the Bannerman purchase. To date there have been 31 surviving examples reported in that 62XX range.

Or how about other folks defend the right of folks to post their threads/posts without being harassed with your nonsense...

No problem.. But, back on topic...

Ron - are you saying this is a Test Luger - even though it's outside the Bannerman serials? I was looking at the auction, and except for a few "nits" - looks pretty good..??

Best to you!

John

John,
The probability that this is a Test Luger is very high. But, as has been repeatedly stated, the only proof positive is if the piece was part of the Bannerman purchase as they were recorded by serial number. There are the 50 pieces that were traded by the Army for the 9mm Cartridge Counters and records of individual purchases of Test guns that do not have serial numbers associated. Any Luger not on the Bannerman list but falling in the approximate 6100-7200 serial number range may have been a Test piece. But obviously, out of that 1100 pistols only 1000 of them qualifiy. We may never know which ones are actual Test examples.

Hi Ron!

Many thanks for the explanation!! What you are saying makes perfect sense.

My Best to you!

John

Ben, Not the mag release..the take down lever.

Hugo Borchardt 12-30-2011 07:56 PM

I look for:

- last two digits of serial number on right side of takedown lever

- no "Germany" export stamp below serial on front of frame

- serial # on reported Bannerman list

Cheers!

Clark

bigborefan 01-02-2012 02:02 PM

I see last bid at $7019 when I went to the auction site.

Ron Wood 01-02-2012 03:15 PM

Even more incredible! Looks like two guys got into a feeding frenzy during the last half hour of the auction.

I have followed this episode with much interest in off & on periods. I was kind of wondering out it would unfurl. I appreciate how the problems were handled. I don't remember the details but understand the resolution of the dilemma.
Isn't it odd how people can get upset at some situations and lose their cook?
