Need a Luger Appraisal in Westen NC(Hickory area)

I am a small gunsmith without the Luger expertise to do an estate appraisal for a friends widowed sister. She has 2- 41 Codes (non "byf") all visable codes match in what appears 95%+ and a DWM in 80+. A local expert(?) gunsmith shop valued the 41's at $ 1200 ea. and offered $ 960. I need an appraisal from a recognized credible source. I don't have a dog in the fight, I just don't want her to receive a fair price. Any help would be appreciated.

Greg, as you may know, to get a fair appraisal you really need to post photographs, as difficult as they may be to obtain. "Local experts" have been know to miss many things, especially even if one or more of the lugers have been refinished. That all being said, I think the figures given sound a little low to me.

I live in Wake Forest, which is a fair distance from Hickory. I believe that there are other board members closer.

Greg, as said above, values can fluctuate, many shops don't realize that lugers must be matched (most small parts).

Posting detailed pictures would be the easiest thing. Although You could send them to me, and I'd appraise them for you, no cost, send via USPS and they'd be here in Pennsylvania in a day (I have an FFL 03, but have access to an FFL 01) and if as nice as stated, we'd give an honest buy it price along with the retail price (for insurance / selling etc.

A gun shop price of $960 was a bit low if all matching and nice, but higher than I have seen many times :)

Thanks to all, I agree with the advise. I will get the the 3 Lugers this week, disassemble and log information onto the Luger Identification Sheet found on the forum with photos and post. I do recall one had serial number 6000, easy to remember. I know that one had the matching original holster and spare matching magazine. Thanks again. Best regards.

She has 2- 41 Codes (non "byf") Does that mean they're 42 code. i.e. 41 date, 42 code? If so they're worth much more.

The could also be Mauser Banner toggles if not "byf", or "42"
