What's my Luger Worth?
7 Attachment(s)
Hi guys. First post. I just wanted a ballpark of what my Luger would go for in the hands of collectors. Its a 1940 with ALL matching numbers and proof stamps. Condition is probably low 90% only because because of a strange imperfection in the finish near the barrel. Grips are in near perfect condition and mag is not matching mag but does have a TR stamp on it. Also, my favorite part, I have the leather holster WITH the eagle and swastika. thanks for the help. heres the pics-

Dennis, hard to tell from the pictures for a really good estimate. I'd like to see the 'imperfection' better, its fairly large which would affect value a bit.
The swastika added to the holster is actually something done by GI's and not something that adds value, but takes away from the value. What is it marked on the rear of the holster? I would say that your 1940 is worth $1000-$1400 (large valuation since its very nice except for the large imperfection), will make a difference if it is simply something that got on it and took the finish off or if it is damaged. Is there a 2nd magazine or loading tool inside of the holster? Otherwise the holster is worth $125-$225, depending on how it is marked and year, because it looks like a very nice brown holster on the outside. We'd also need to see that it has not been 'cut down' on the inside, as that kills the collector value. Ed |
Dennis,
Your pictures have enough glare and lack of focus that it's really hard to judge things about your pistol. Try taking them outdoors in a shaded area (indirect light) without the flash. Use a tripod and the camera's closeup setting (usually looks like a flower symbol) and you'll get pictures that are more usable. If the area on top of the receiver near the date is just finish damage without pitting or other metal damage, it could have been caused by blood splatter. Blood will de-oxidize and reduce the blued finish. As it's all matching, and the finish looks original and in a generally good state, your Luger and holster would probably be worth $1500 to a collector. Perhaps more or less depending on things I can't determine from your pictures. Marc |
Edward- there is a quater inch circle of FINISH damage to the left of "1940". no metal damage. you can see it in the one with my hand in the picture. Also, the holster is marked 1939 and under the eagle emblem is WaA750. no cutting and yes there is another mag.
mrerick- sorry about the pictures. iphone camera= not so good. if more people ask for pictures, ill be glad to take better ones. thanks guys! |
