Does The Position Of Erics' Navy Look Right
3 Attachment(s)
I bought this 1908 model Navy years ago and as its never been fired, I just noticed the extreme position offset an ask is my gun off in position to require such correction?
|
Eric, YUP! Tap it back with a wood or plastic hammer to center it up.
There are 2 lines on the right side..try to line them up as best you can |
That is nearly the position of the front sight of my 1921 Alphabet Luger. I had to move it to that position to get it to shoot to POA. You may not have shot that Luger, but I bet someone did, and adjusted the front sight accordingly.
I guess that it could also have gotten struck some time in the past, or it is loose in the dovetail, and moved when it was shot. |

You make a valid point. Were they adjusted at the factory post production! I know some new guns are supplied with the test target to demonstate accuracy of that gun! Definitly done post sale or the owner might have had only one eye!!

Hi Eric, When your 1908 Navy left the factory the two register marks lined up, as in the photo. Someone must have dropped or knocked the gun. Regards, Norm

That makes the most sence. How would you correct it? I noticed they sell a devicet for it? I dont want to tap it. I know better! But I don't want to spend $280 for a one time use! Norme is there a chance that this position is correct for this gun. Thank Got for people like you Jerry, George and a few others or I would be in even more trouble!

If I were you Eric, I'd walk it into a gunsmith. You don't need a Luger specialist, it shouldn't take more than a minute or two, and cost more than a few bucks. Gunsmiths aren't attorney's! Don't delay, Navy sight blades are not the same as ordinary P08 blades and are almost impossible to replace, just ask George Fortier on this forum. Good luck, Norm

" A man must know his limitations" Norme I havent fired any of my guns. Nor then do I intend to in the immediate futture. I'm going to leave well enough alone! Thank You as always!

My friend at 'pre98' haS an swiss original for $750. My priorities are elsewhere!

Jerry is the winner. I pressed in back in with a piece of a wooden cloth pin! Snapped like it belonged ther of course Ill post the result in the moning, Question the sight snapped back perfectly not a slide over but and actual 3 positions!! No tiny adjustments!! Imagine that!
