black repro grips

Hey guys-here is my dumb question of the week

I bought a set of "VintageGrips" replacement grips and they are far from a drop in and will require a few hours w/ a file, which is dumb considering they are for my 1942 Mauser frame-(which had original bakelite grips).

Are all aftermarket grips afflicted w/ this problem?

Okay Jerry, sorry about that, first name added:typing:

Now any advice regarding the best black repro grips for the price?

THANKS

Anton, Thanks!

I have very little experience with reproduction grips so I am afraid I can't give any good advice. I bet you get some before long though. There must be some experience from Members who have found a good place to get excellent grips?

ANton, You'll find ALL new repro grips to be slightlly oversize to allow for the differences in luger frames. It usually just takes a few minutes with a dremel tool to shape the bottom edges to you frame. You'll ocassionally see Finnish or Portugese made BW type grips that are "take offs" from other pistols. Since previously fitted to another luger, they might be too tight, too loose (worse case) or just right. TH

Thanks for the advice, ever since I screwed-up a replacement set of C96 grips I have always been cautious.

However I have to praise:

I just bought my black luger grips from him that he pre-trims before sending them out and they were nearly a drop-in fit, just took 20 seconds of file work near the safety area, then they fit like a glove.

Three cheers for David Rachwal:thumbup:
