IRecently Got My 1917 Artillery and How Do You Set The Range?
 

I own an '08' Navy and 1920 9mm Luger Carbine.I want to take my first shot with this way cool artillery, How do I use this range thing? What do the numbers mean?? Just delived is a dated ang Germany stamped duel leather mag pouch. Now between a snail drum and loader another $3-$5k This is becoming more than alimony!

You apparently own a Navy and an adjustable artillary. The rear sight is set in 100 meter increments. raise the sight to adjust for the distance away and fire. If the sights seem off the little ball with two holes can be used to correct the sight. Old Blue

As Lewis posted, the sight is calibrated in 100 meter increments, allowing compensation for bullet drop.

I love the ambitious thought behind the 700 and 800 meter markings... Now if that westerly wind were not so pesky,..,

Eric, As implied above, shooting an Artillery at 800 meters, even with a stock, is optimistic. Usually you will only be shooting with the rear sight elevator (sliding part with lock button) all the way to the rear. If your pattern is low, push the elevator up to the next notch forward, until on target. If you find that the elevator is moving on it's own, on recoil, you may need a new lock button, which I have in stock, or the notches in your numbered scale may be damaged. TH

Thank Tom Its like buying a queen a waredrobe. Right now i'm focusing on my artillery. I've never fired any of my 'Lugees" I physically couldt. I survided a stroke/coma in Costa ica since the 3 shoulder surgerie both ankle surgeries. I fel like Whilhelm Good Lugers are as demanding as pretty women. We spend thousands on aquiring preperation ammo. Reminds me of my second wife. Just when the Artillery is paid for, another $3-4k to even shoot it! Then you got to make sure who your buying it from. I was lucky, I finally found a 'GERMANY' and '1917; duel marked mag holder. My artillery luger is dated 1917 and both the gun are marked and dated 1917 and both gun and board are marked to the169th, I haveing so much fun researching my unit! 1 must admit this gun has brought me 2 new friendships. And a common bond with a German in 1917 was holding this luger to his dear life! In Lugers you sometimes buy more than a gun! The support has be Phenominal!!

Tom thanks for noticing. I'm trying first to bring together the last 2 pieces. The drum and loader each from my hero who sold me the gun and the other a new dear friend. Three years 3 surgeries and many months in hospital and painful rehab, God has bestoed 2 new friends and a beautiful real piece of History. All of which is truely awesome!

Sounds like your in for a rear luger adventure. You may want to reinstall the grips on your 109th infantry regiment, 1st MG company luger, so that they fit flush with the front grip strap. TH

Hi This gun and stock both are from the 169th. Does this affect your opinion on the grips?
