Check out this PPK

Greetings,
A friend of mine sent me a few photos of a PPK he recently acquired. I personally think it is a beautiful pistol. Any thought? Mike |
A nice prewar PPK with very nicely done engraving and embellishments. Personally not my taste, but I certainly respect the craftsmanship that went into it. The Walther records still exist, so it should be possible to find out if the engraving is original. My guess is that it was done well after the pistol was manufactured. Ken Eister, a gunsmith out in mid Ohio, had a Korean engraver who used to do very similar work. I watched him do a PPK or two in the mid 1970s
If is refreshing, at least, to see an embellished PPK without someone trying to pass it off as a high nazi party leader's piece by slapping eagles and swastikas all over it. |
Ornate describes it quite well. A bit over the top for my taste, but I too can appreciate the skill and time invested to create what is a work of art.
