Trying to learn
I saw this today guys. It looks to my untrained eye, like a 1940 Mauser with East German Vopo grips. I don't think it's an East German Vopo Luger though as the stamps on the pistol (no starburst et al) don't indicate such. All serial numbers match, including the magazine. Does seem worn, but looks like it would be a decent shooter.

At least the sideplate is a forced match, (all those little punch marks are meant to obliterate the original number and is typical of many VoPos). Would it make a good shooter? Absolutely!!
The only thing to consider here is the asking price. This will determine whether it is a good buy or not. You did not include this. |
They are asking $750.

Hi Ezra, I think the frame and top half come from two different guns. Frames were not marked P08 until 1941. Regards, Norm

I think that the price $750 for a VoPo shooter in this condition is rather high.
Maybe worth $600 if it is in good working condition with a good bore. Marc |
Thanks for the help guys. Learned a number of things just from this thread. How awesome is that?
