Debbie found this. Probobly her dads. Pretty good shake. Pretty wood. What is it, before we decide what to do with it!

Lee Enfield, british army rifle, should be in .303 Brit

Nice rifles, I like them, keep me in mind if you are going to 'get rid of it' :)

Check the rifle, should say something like mrk IV or something like that.

This is an SMLE, (Short Magazine, Lee Enfield). Most probably in .303 British Caliber. It could have been built in a number of places, from Canada to India.

Value today in nice shape is in the $300's

What are the marking on it?

It says 'US PROPERTY' Was this lend lease? I'LL get some closeup tommorow. one Heavy! You will get it before anyone else!

It's a late model No 4 Lee Enfield (flip sights instead of tangent; cutout instead of sliding bolt release).

If you're really interested in what it is exactly, post pics in this forum -

I bought one of those at my local gun shop a few weeks ago for $150 with a chopped down stock...There's another in unaltered condition for $350...

Savage here in the US made some of these; so did Longbranch in Canada...

Thank You and Ed. I definitly have no use for it. The postage would be more than my first wife. Ill get some close up, it just doent look right. I'll stick to lugers'

Looks like very nice No. 4 mk 1. If it says U. S. property it was made by Savage. It should have a rather square looking S on the left side of the reciever. Well done. Those are great battle rifles.

These "Smellys" are great rifles. One was my uncle's deer rifle for years...brought home lots of venison.
