I removed the grip on my test piece. To my surprise besides last two digits is a symbal on each of what I thought was the burning bomb but closer I can't identify. Any idea?

They look like stars to me.

I'm told they are inspectors marking. Sounds Good!

What kind of wood was used to make these beauties? Did they always use the same kind of wood? Were the Krieghoffs the only manufacture that used something other than wood? Thank You All!!!

The star symbol is a marking found inside many grips of early lugers, including 1900 and 1902 models. I have not seen it in later models, such as the 1906.

Yep my 1900 has 'em too

I've also seen this inspector's marking inside an unissued set of unnumbered spare grip safety grips of this period. TH
