My 1937 Kriegoff has a mark along with a serial, I have a wooden mag with an undesernable marking. Was this a general practice. There sure a lot of blank wooden mags out There. Can anyone clarify this practice. When did wooden make way for alluminum?

Eric, are you talking about the eagle 2 / Krieghoff acceptance marking?

Yes your absolutly right. There are distintive eagles through out the gun and magazine as confirmed. 'The LWaA Proof Test Marking used on the first 1200 Military Lugers was a very distintive eagle symbal. This symbal is not easily confused with any other inspection markings' p96 et al.
