Removing Rust with Electrolysis

I haven't tried this yet (and few posts here about it) but the guys on the Surplus Rifles/Enfield forum have 9 pages of it...and it looks pretty good...

Cheap materials, battery charger from everyone's garage, supermarket chemicals...

Supposedly leaves bluing untouched...

I'm eager to try it...but don't have anything really rusty... :p

That's sweet! I have seen it before, but used for larger parts (like car parts) and using more elaborate power sources. I must have at least ten old wall chargers lying around, so this is something I need to try!

I have posted this method on the Lugerforum before.

But I don't think I would try it on a blued firearm. Blue is a form of rust and the bluing may be wiped clean by this process... try it on something other than a blued firearm that matters first please!
