1942 mauser luger
i have a 1942 luger with a sear safety, it has the mauser banner.at the back of the pistol there is a u , what would this mean. also on my clip it has the same serial no as the gun. but it also has po8 and fxo with three lines under it and the no 37 under the three line. any info would be appreciated. thank you chuck

Chuck, welcome to the forum.
Unknown about the 'u' would love to see pictures of it. That period, the Haenel made magazines had the code FXO and the acceptance marking of eagle 37, the P08 means its for the luger. The serial number was because it was a police. The banner mauser was a commercial variation that was bought by the police and went into service receiving the sear safety. ed |
