Luger Artillery Magazine Pouch
 

For those who might be interested, be aware that this pouch offered on Ebay is a very well made recent German reproduction and not original. I know this because I bought this pouch from the original German source some ten years ago. I was so taken by the quality that I sent it to my friend Ed Sayre with whom I shared a common interest in artillery Luger related items. Before Ed could return it to me he died so it went with the rest of his collection.

Norm, I can not say but lacking typical Navy marking, maker mark and condition one has to question it.

Norm, Thanks..I didn't have any meaningful faults to point out here either..Just the same doubts you have. It looks good superficially from the photo's.Which don't show all I want to see and are not the best lighting.
I told a Friend who is considering it..the only real way to determine authenticity is to have it in hand to inspect it for construction details on the inside.
Also as George A. and I discussed this afternoon... to look for a Crown M on the underside. They were stamped so small they are easily overlooked unless you know where to look.

While on the subject of reproductios please take a look at this TM-08 drum loader.

Take a close look at the joint/slit on the underside of the handle.
I am curious as to others opinions about its originality.

The "joint" looks like a machined cut, not the result of rolled edges meeting.

That is my feeling also. It does not appear to have the ground flush welds at either end of the joint. If you shine a flash light inside a original loader handle you can see the butt joint seam.

I would also look at the screw that holds the handle on to this
loader to see if it is threaded all the way or just the first 1/8
of a inch,if it is threded all the way it is wrong.

Take a close look at the joint/slit on the underside of the handle.

One of the little details the faker used to sucker big money out of a reproduction Artillery loading tool.

It is likely the seller is unaware of the minute details concerning original loading tools and if a buyer is so unlucky to be in the same ignorant state..he will foolishly pay big bucks and be stuck with a reproduction.

This will most likely fool any buyer who has been simply told to "look for a line" on the underside of the handle without a full explanation of what the line is or how it is formed. Like most fakes, the details are only hinted at to fool the average buyer who does not posess a complete knowledge.
