1912 Erfurt
I have a question concerning a 1912 Erfurt. The pistol has no hold-open, no stock lug, all parts matching and the (4) proof marks are as usual on the right side .Was this a military or civilian luger and why ?
Thanks |
All Erfurts are military, as Erfurt was a Royal Armory. The reason there is no stock lug or hold open on your gun is that your pistol is early enough that those features were not yet adopted. Most guns did later receive the hold open, installed retroactively, but yours escaped this upgrade, making it a little more desirable.
Some photos would be great! |
Hi John, With few exceptions, the only early military Lugers that did not have hold-opens retro fitted (like yours), were those issued to Bavarian units. Does yours have a unit mark on it's front grip strap? Regards, Norm
