1916 DWM Barrel Reline Range Report

3 Attachment(s)
Here are some pictures of my target shooting today, using my 1916 DWM which had the barrel relined by Tom Heller.
Don't know if ifs good or bad for a relined barrel Luger, but I'm happy.

25 feet, off hand, no rest. My reloads are 147gr Berry's Copper plate RN over 3.6gr Accurate #2, 1.155 O.A.L. 855 FPS.

This is 75 rounds, looks like I was getting tired as it starts to spread out from the main group. But keep in mind I'm 65 and didn't have my glasses on.

Is this good, bad, or OK, for a Relined Barrel?

That's GOOD!

I think it's good for any barrel.

It's good to know that I have something to look forward to...in four years... :D

Can you post pics of the muzzle & breech??? Also describe exactly what Tom did...Is it silver soldered in place??? Interference fit???

Barrel Reline

Please check my post with pics on the reline. Maybe three months back.

Oddly, Tom Heller had this to say about it...

You are correct, Tom did not do the work himself, and didn't tell me who did. (don't know if he wants it known)

I sent Tom the Luger to replace a shot out barrel. (wouldn't group shots at all) He suggested relining the barrel to keep the sr# and proofs.

Anyway, whoever did the job, did a good job, and I'm happy with it. I think it shoots nice, and after a few hundred rounds through it, it's never had one FTF, FTE, stove pipe or anything else. 100% reliable.
