Non import marked VOPO Luger
 

Has anyone ever seen a VOPO Luger with no import markings? How would this effect the value?

yes, it just slipped through

It would make it worth more, but if you can tell its a vopo, i.e. renumbered parts etc, then it will appear to most folks to be renumbered....

Were manatory import marks a result of the Gun control Act of 1968? Therefore all pre-68 imports would be unstamped?
I'm asking, I don't know.

All parts match. I had this imported in by an importer. So far I cannot find where, if he did it at all, placed his stamp. So if he did not am I in the wrong or is he?

Unless I'm mistaken, it appears to be Import marked on the bottom side of the barrel.

If not, some were discreetly stamped on the rails of the upper "cannon" or the frame. The gun must be disassembled in order to see the stamp on the rail of either upper or lower. .

The bottom of the barrel marking is a little out of the ordinary. It is "Kal 9mm P." and what appears to be a crown. Not a usual importer's mark.

The "Kal 9mm P" was a requerment under German law when it came over from the VOPO, I think. When disassembeled there is the Bayren Crest that is also requiered by law that is to let the Polizi know that it passed the pressure test. I'll disassemble it once it get's here to see if there is any import marks, but my Dad says that he looked at it and didn't see one.

Very few Vopo guns were sold or stolen prior to 1968, most would be after that date.
