Navy Barrels/Sarco ad in 10 Sept SGN

Someone here was looking for 5" Luger "Navy" barrels...Sarco has this ad in SGN (below)...

First repros I've seen with the high sight base...Reasonable price...Worth a try...(if you have the $$$, which I don't)...

It's on pg 65 of the 10 Sept/Subscriber issue SGN...(not the same as the newsstand issue)...

I just received my first issue after not subscribing since April 20 1996 (I still have that last issue)...Entire issue is physically smaller and font is so small I now need to read it with a magnifying glass... :grr:

Only 96 pages compared to the 1996's 180 pages... :(

I can recall when Sarco/Golden Ent ads had amusing cartoon caricatures of German/English etc soldiers holding/firing the items that were being advertised...Funny stuff...and pretty good quality line drawings... :D

Check the twist rate! There were some out there with a 1:16 rate, not the luger 1:8.

I think when Gun List came out with their alphabetical listings it sounded the death knell for Shotgun News. Now Gun List is Gun Digest, a combo of classifieds and gun articles. I used to be an avid reader and subscriber of SN when I had time to read everything in it, but later went to GL due to the convenience. I haven't seen a SN in years!:o

The local supermarket/convenience stores carry SGN, but not Gun Digest. I don't remember ever seeing Gun Digest anywhere around here...(Never even heard of it)...
