Re: Here we go Again-A real parts Luger

A couple of things wrong with the gun. First, the image is reversed, it actually shows the left side of the gun. Second, it is attached to a navy stock - this is an illegal combination. If you have a stock, you must also have the proper BATF designated Luger to go with it. To possess only the stock and a short barreled Luger to go with it is putting yourself in a very dangerous position.

Navy Stock

Ron,

What you said about a stock on a short barreled Luger is techically true. But although it is illegal, I don't believe that this is something that the BATF is looking to prosecute. At the moment, they have other more pressing things to chase. As a collector, if that is truely a navy stock, then that has great value to me. Those things are hard to find. Some emails are in order.

I wish that someone would explain to me how you can close a window on GA to get another view. I have fiddled around with a number of articles and have never been successful. The Luger in question has something at the base of the grips that does not come out. I have not actually looked at the GA auction thread yet (just Thor's thread). Maybe there will be something else there in the description.

Don't tell anybody that I am looking. I don't want someone to bid me up.

It's a parts gun Norm, but you can sell it off after you get the stock

Here is the text from the auction that Thor just sent to me cause I can't get to Gunsamerica.com from here...

The accompanying photo is TERRIBLE. not even worth reposting here. Get in touch with him and tell him the stock is illegal with that pistol, but you will take it off his hands since you have the Navy Luger to go with it. Maybe he'll get scared and let you have the stock cheap

Re: Navy Stock

Norm, the instructions at GA are a little misleading. When you view a picture, there is only that picture to see. Closing the window will not let you see other views of the same gun. To close the window, just click on the "X" in the upper right-hand corner, and you will be returned to the listing page. By the way, John Sabato's suggestion isn't a bad idea. You might be able to pick up the stock reasonably (no way to tell if it is a repro or not from the picture) and not have to acquire that mongrel Luger.

Re: Navy Stock,G.A.

Funny, though G.A. was not going to do Lugers, or did I miss something?

John Sabato 02-01-2002 11:45 AM

They aren't staffed to police their listings...

They just don't WANT to offer this type of merchandise for personal prejudice reasons. Schlomo made one post that if you managed to sell one of the items for which he has such disdain, you can keep the commission because he doesn't want it. Somehow, I don't see that happening in practice...

Re: They aren't staffed to police their listings...

Is it illegal to put a stock on a short barrel Luger? They were made to do that. They are C&Rs. I've read that it is illegal to attach a stock on any weapon not specifically designed for it.(I got bored once in RVN and mounted a High Standard .22 in an old cut down mauser stock shooting through a piece of bamboo packed with steel wool. Used electrical tape and wire to hold it together. Raised hell on the rats till I got caught with it and to give it up. Don't you know the Feds would love to catch someone with something like that.)

Hello Roadkill, well done=>! Anytime a field expediency can br brought into play, to get the job done, it's a positive move in the right direction!!

Re: Navy Stock

Yah, I really don't want that mutt gun. I already have enough "mistakes". But I don't think that it is legal to make side offers on guns or parts that are auctioned on GA. A lot hinges on whether or not it is an original stock and of course price. But I also just put out $4000 on an operation on my dachshund and I am shy of a full load in my bank account. Plus, I owned some Kmart stock and I am still smarting from that.

Re: Navy Stock (OT)

Thought I was the only one that did those things. Picked up a stray dog sitting in the middle of the road during a bad storm in October. 10years old mixed Pekenese wasn't neutered , cronic eye and Heart problems and then they found out he had Heartworms. Several thousaand dollars later I got a little mutt whose big deal is raising hell when I call to him to come in the house thinks its a game to run him down. Oh well would'nt let the wife have a small dog when she was alive so think she is getting even with me now.
