MEC-GAR Mag Upgrades! MAUSER style!
7 Attachment(s)
Hello to all, I just completed a set of six up-graded nickel MEC-GAR mags for one of our forum members! With near perfect EAST GERMAN cast aluminum bottoms, either a great copy, or cast from the original molds, same as the WW2 Mauser.. I'm voting original molds were used.. ;).....Anyway, this group has had the bottoms profiled, fitted and parting line removed, then installed, over a GTHQ spring with precision spring follower cap, and double pinned with retaining pins made to original specs. I don't think there is a better shooter mag available anywhere, originals included. The reason I make this statement, is not entirely dependant on the necessary up-grades, as the MEC-GAR shell is heat treated and will not deform or change.. no other mag tube current or past has this feature... And, the GTHQ spring will not degrade, and the aluminum bottoms ain't never going to break! ....I'm selling up-graded MEC-GAR mags like the ones discribed above, and pictured below, for $95.00 each, which includes shipping on up to six mags... you can contact me at gctomeks@msn.com if you'd like to have some made..;)... As always, Best to all, til....lat'r....GT

Hi,
If anybody was wondering how GT's upgrade would look with blued mag bodies, here's your answer. I asked him to upgrade my MEC-GAR shooting mags to match my original mag and I think the results speak for themselves (the original mag is on the left).... Attachment 21449 Attachment 21450 At the same time I also sent him a badly damaged P.38 floorplate to be restored. As you can see he, Mike C. "MFC", and Charles Danner teamed up to do an AWESOME job on it! Attachment 21445 Attachment 21446 Plus he did both jobs so fast I can only conclude that he's set up shop at my local post office. So a big thanks to GT, Mike C, and Charles Danner! Best regards, DJ |
The real star on this show...
Thanks DJ, for the kind words and nice pics! The real credit goes to our member MFC, Mike, for being able to micro-weld up the damage... then, it's just a matter of removing everything that doesn't look like floor plate... and leaving everything that does!! ;).... This one turned out well! ... Best to all, til...lat'r...GT
