P.08 on the frame
 

I haven't been able to find this by reading the forum. What varieties of the P08 have the "P08" on the left side of the frame by the safety?

Hi Dave, The first Luger to have the P08 mark was the 41 42, to distinguish it from the P38 that had just been introduced. It was continued through the rest of P08 military production, namely the 41 byf and the 42 byf. Regards, Norm

Norm (or anyone else), do the banners made in this time period have P08 marked on the frame?

I think not, but all my books are shipped home.

Hi Ed, I only collect military Lugers, so I have no first hand knowledge of Banners, but I do believe they use the standard military frame, although there are several other differences. So, yes, Banners dated 1941 and 1942 would have P08 marked frames. However, since many of them used left over Army parts, I'm sure there must be examples out there with the earlier, un-marked frames. Dunno for sure, But here's a pair of 1942 banners, Y block

I have an all matching 42 date Luger in the early "g" block that is military proofed and has a "P.08" on the receiver left rear and a Banner toggle.
