I brought my first luger home last saturday and after a full dissasembly, inspection, and cleaning its time to post some pics.
Its an rguns import, this one is not a russian capture, and is matching except for the side plate and the rear toggle pin. The bluing looks to be about 70% and it is a rust blue model The luger looks to have what I believe is an s date, looks like the second s on the suffixes page one. |
Hi Dale,
The transition from rust blue with strawed small parts to all salt blue began with the 's' suffix in 1937. This is one of the last rust blued Mauser military Lugers produced. It looks like it is the original finish. Very nice for the price. What type of mag came with it? The aluminum bottom looks correct. |
it's just a scrubbed aluminum bottom and that just made me excited to hear that about the rust blue, not like the value went up, its just a feal good thing

Looks like a decent import.
You have a 1937 (date of manufacture) S42 (code name for Mauser) that would have served in WW2 and perhaps later. ed |
Better pics :)

I have a Russian Capture (#'s matching) and the bottom of the mag has been ground down in that exact same fashion. Any ideas why?
