marine from Erfurt???

Hi friends, in a book from 1985 i have a foto of a 1918-Erfurt in original, matching condition. But this gun is a 1904-model with grip-safety and 150mm-barrel, and of course the 100 / 200m visier. I thought always, only DWM made the marines in 4 charges. Other opinions???

Dieter,

First I would be skeptical of a description given in a book of a pistol that does not meet the criteria of all know examples of a given maker. As 1918 was the closing phases of WWI, and DWM had already stopped production of the Navy P08 in 1917, it would defy logic as to why Erfurt would make that particular variation of a pistol they had never made before, and even less logical that they would make it in a grip safety variation. As Erfurt never made 150mm barrels or grip safetys, the pistol could hardly be attributed to some type of late war fabrication from left over parts. I would remain skeptical until more positive proof was offered other than a photo and description in a book.

An Erurt Navy is kinda like an honest Clinton...theoretically possible but highly unlikely.

it is almost certainly a post war assemblage of parts.
