Swiss or Swedish Contract
Keith C would like your opinion. He viewed a Mauser Banner 8353v crown over "u" proofs. 4 inch barrel, 30 cal marked 7.65/mm under the barrel. Blued with strawed parts. 8350v is listed as a Swiss Contract in Costanzo. Is this another Swiss contract or a stray Swedish contract? Your thoughts please.

Here is some info. from Joop’s v-survey over on Jan’s Boards:
Added 11/27/2005: This survey was limited to the range 1v - 6001v because I thought that the range above 6001v is sufficiently researched before. One of the members of this forum drew my attention to the fact that Sam Costanzo offered no figures at all for the group 8100v - 8500v. Many collectors suppose that it had to be Police issued Lugers like most of the SN's around this range. If you happen to have a Luger with a SN in the 8100v - 8500v range, please drop me a short message too. It might be interesting to see if the 'Police' - theory is correct. Some lugers are not Police: 6858v - Banner- 1937 - 4"- 9mm- C/U - none - Gesichert/Geladen- chromed, new grips 6900v - Banner- 1937 - 4"- 9mm- C/U - none - Gesichert/Geladen 7882v - Banner- 1939 - 4"- 9mm- C/U - E/K (police) Gesichert/Geladen, sear safety 8125v - Banner- 1939 - 4"- 9mm- C/U - none - Gesichert/Geladen 8189v - Banner- 1939 - 4"- 9mm- C/U - none - Gesichert/Geladen- small parts not strawed 8154v - Banner- ? - 4"- 9mm- C/U - none - Gesichert/Geladen (P08) 8200v - Banner- ? - 4"- 9mm- C/U - none - Gesichert/Geladen (P08) 8213v - Banner- 1939 - 4"- 9mm- C/U - none - Gesichert/Geladen - small parts strawed 8274v - Banner- 1937 - 4"- 9mm- C/U+SE/63 - none - Gesichert/Geladen - small parts blued 8350v - Banner- 1939- 4¾"- 7.65mm- C/U- Sw proof on barrel- Gesichert/Geladen- Grip safety- small parts strawed. 8400v - Banner- Sw Cross- 4¾"- 7.65mm- C/U- Sw proof on barrel- Gesichert/Geladen- Grip safety- small parts strawed. 8756v - Banner- 1939- 4"- 9mm- C/U - none - Gesichert/Geladen - small parts strawed Here is the link to Joop’s entire survey : http://luger.gunboards.com/showthread.php?t=5833&page=9 |
