1941 Mauser Banner Police "Eagle L" - 9mm
Here is a nice police Luger. The condition is really astounding. My theory is that it was issued to an official, he liked it and squirrelled it away. He probably acquired a military Luger to use on duty, keeping this one pristine. How else would it stay pristine, being a 1941 issue? It couldn't have been captured upon arrival at the front. I suspect it was confiscated in 1945 after the fall of Germany, still pristine and squirrelled away. Of course, the interesting features to note are the sear safety, barrel proof on the front sight base, and the "Eagle L" proof. 1941 Mauser Banner Police "Eagle L" - 9mm. |

Really top notch Luger!!!Congratulations!!!.........I have seen several Banner Police Lugers in really good condition......I guess most of these saw very little action as they were "Behind the lines"....

Those of you who know far more than I, can anybody please tell me what is known about the interesting proof or acceptance stamp on the front of the sight base (at the muzzle) on these pistols?
My photo isn't quite as detailed as I would like, but the stamp is there. Maybe I'll try another shot in oblique light to accent the stamp. Any info would be appreciated. |

Here's one from a 1942 Banner. 'Y' block.'
