Introduction - New Member Here

Hello to all,

I just found this forum today and signed up. Thought I should introduce myself.

I have been a gun collector and avid shooter since childhood. Lugers were a fascination as long as I can remember. I think I was 13 years old when I got my first one for Christmas after months of nagging my father. It was a byf41, and boy was I proud! I have dabbled in Lugers since then, but I'm not to be considered a serious collector.

My most serious sickness is double rifles. If any of you are members or visitors on the NitroExpress.com forums you may know me from there.

I come here mostly as a student. I have a modest collection of Lugers that would be laughable to the advanced collector. Still I find them fascinating, and the details are never mastered.

If I make a silly statement, please correct me gently. I'm here to learn, not preach. I look forward to the learning experience.

Finally, I'll tell you Google brought me here. I was searching for the little flat spring that tensions the magazine catch on a P.08 Luger. If anybody has one for sale or can direct me to one I would be grateful.

Thanks
Curl

Hi Curl, Welcome to the forum! For Luger parts, try Tom Heller, a forum member, at hellerarms@webtv.net. Regards, Norm

Welcome CptCurl!!! :D

Several members here sell Luger parts; GT, LugerDoc, Ed Tinker among others...and other members provide services (grip restoration/checkering, magazine rebuilding, etc)...

Pics of your modest collection are encouraged!

Please avail yourself of the FAQ (which contains a wealth of information on Lugers) and the Search function.

Enjoy your stay at LugerForums!!! :jumper:

Here's my first attempt. I tried to write it in UBB Code here but had trouble with the photos. So I wrote it in HTML and made a link.

LugerForums requests that you post directly to this Forum. Here's a link to a thread explaining why & how... ;)

Curl,
I suspect that you are making the upload a bit more difficult than it is. However, here are a couple of photos I swiped from your link :)!

Ok an attempt to upload photos.

By the way, the two (very blue) photos above are the only ones that are not mine. Those are from the listing when I bought this pistol. All the rest are entirely my effort.

Now I'm causing trouble, because these posts probably should have been made to the thread in the early Luger section that I started. Drat! Maybe an admin or mod can move them or copy them to that thread?

Thanks all,
Curl

Excellent looking Luger pics! Definitely something that the Forum would want to archive and use as a reference!

You can link to these pics from your other thread, so they will appear there also. Or you could stick them in an album and link to them there also. Lots of options. :)

Here's a preview of my next photographic project. Even got out my old manual Nikkor 55mm Macro lens and screwed it on my D90. First use of that lens since shooting film. Wadduthink?

You are having waaay too much fun!:)

Roscoe,

What are you using to create the diffuse light? I assume you're working with a Light Box and some kind of white or grey background... Tell me more about your setup!

I shoot with the Nikkor 60mm Macro lens. They are remarkable precision tools. (Just like our Lugers...)

Welcome aboard!
I don't see anything "laughable" here!
Pretty nice 1900 AE over there. I would be proud to have in my collection!

And nice pictures too!

Douglas.

Welcome CptCurl, your Luger looks great.

Very nice photos also.. looks like you know a thing or two about photography!

For that spring, you can try Tom Heller (Lugerdoc) here at the forum. If he is sold out, you can send me a PM. I'm away from home at the moment so I can't say for sure, but I think I have one.
