Interarms Mauser Problems

Approximately a month ago....finally got me a 6" Barrel Interarms Mauser......also purchased from a Forum Member some custom mags...(mec-gar.?) anyway....just -Cannot- get it to function...will "stovepipe" just about every other round....no matter if I use the Mauser Mags that came with it or the Custom Mags.....all in all have tried 4 different magazines with no luck......Looking closer at it today.....Im "thinking" the problem might be with the feed ramp...it just doesnt look exactly the angle it should be...(Im no expert..just guessing here)........last year...I bought a Beretta Model 84...NIB...and it just would NOT shoot hollow points...of any brand....so I took it to a gunsmith in Nashville....he reworked it....(said the ramp was lopsided from the factory...couple of other things)..anyway...it will shoot any thing now......SO...my thought is to take the Interarms Mauser to him...and see if he can work his "magic" on it.......but I would appreciate anyones opinion..suggestions....etc.....Best Regards...Hans Fischer:confused:

If I am reading you right, she feeds fine, but stove
pipes the emptys every other round. That would lead me to think its an ejector issue. Is she clean as a whistle?

Interarms Mauser Problem

Yes....in fact ..I had just finished cleaning it.....its really frustrating as I read notes from guys that have bought the Interarms Mausers and they just eat up the white box 9mm....no problems.....and I havent been able to get mine to work with either of the 2 Mauser Mags or the Custom Mec Gars that I bought........so Im going to see if the Gunsmith can figure it out.....he did a beautiful job on my Beretta Model 84........Im betting its the load ramp.........but then.....Im just guessing....thats why I appreciate any help.......any suggestion....Regards...Hans Fischer:(

good luck with the planned fix

please post results - seems like a subset of the MPs have that problem

thanks

Sounds like there isn't enough pressure to generate sufficient recoil to force it all to operate/eject. I'd be experimenting with slightly faster/hotter ammo. Feed ramp angle is voodoo and just doesn't seem like the culprit here.
Clean and polish the chamber.
Clean and over- oil the gun. Gun oil on your glasses is a good thing...
Grip it tighter. Lock the elbows.
Experiment with diff. ammos., SLIGHTLY hotter, faster, lighter bullets.
Don't jam the last round into the mags.
Main spring as a later resort.
Consider sending it to Tom Heller. Having the local gunsmith alter the feed ramp angle just might cause more harm than good.
Well, you got exactly what you paid for...

I am with David, great advise. the feedramps are actually working.....they are sending the round into battery. the problem is with the ejection of the empty. you have noticed it does it with different mags, so thats not the problem either.

you can also strip the pistol, take a lose round and see how easily it slides into the chamber. while apart you can also see how smooth the toggle slide back and forth. push on the extractor and see if it has tension and functions properly. if wont move or is lose, the spring is toast. or it could frozen

also check the ejector thats in the frame, for tension/moveability/proper position. you can manually cycle rounds,to see for function.

like dave said lastly it could be recoil/mainspring

my money is on the extractor spring or ejector

best to have a smith that has a background in lugers work on it, not your average gunshop

Your Opinions Are Appreciated...!!

Thanks Guys for all those who weighed in with a response to my trouble with my Interarms Mauser.....so after reading what everyone said......especially about not letting just a regular gunsmith work on it.....I made a phone call to Tom Heller (Luger Doc)...and we discussed the problem....turns out that when Interarms went out of the Mauser Business...he bought the spare parts......SO....tomorrow morning......right after my Cardiac Rehab workout....gonna FEDEX it to Tom for a good going over.....I really like the pistol....especially the American Eagle crest on the front and the "Original Mauser" logo on the back.........so after Tom gives it a good going over......it will be a "keeper" for me..........and again.....I appreciate all the advice....this is a Great Forum......:)

Please update us,so we can all learn what caused this malfunction.

thats a cool pistol and I hope you can enjoy it,once she is corrected!

Tom will figure it out!

I can't think of a better solution to your Mauser Para problem... Tom's where i'd go to... If you find the mags I did for you, ( I think i did two for you???) are not in sync with your unit, let me know, I will adjust to Luger Docs recomendations at no further expense to you.. :jumper: Best to all, til...lat'r...GT...:jumper:

GT & Hans, When I heard that this MP was not functioning correctly with either the factory or GT's mags, using several types of ammo, I suspect that it's not a mag problem. Most likely a stuck ejector or too powerful recoil spring, but will keep you'll posted. TH
