Two Line Stoeger

Guys,
In my humble opinion, the Stoeger Luger of the Weimar era is the most copied, imitated, forged, call it what you want, but buy a Stoeger with extreme caution. Here is one a blind man could spot as a made up Stoeger. In all probability the owner has no idea.

Crisp, clear photos of everything but the critical "Stoeger" stamp and any other markings that matter. How odd!

This luger has several issues that the poor photos fail to clear up. The serial number is not visible. Also a clear close-up of the Stoeger marking is essentail to detect a fraudulent stamping. The spotted blued barrel is unusual, it has a wide barrel band seen with some early "K" date lugers and also with some Finnish barrels. To take this "Stoeger" as geniune would take act act of faith and more photos. I suppose many variations came through the New York firm during the 20's and 30's so we will never know for certain without more photographic evidence.

How about the military style stamping on the side plate and the take down lever. And no photo of American Eagle.
